Natural Selection

I am often told that my kindness and generosity are unparalleled.

It's true, I love helping out, taking charge of tasks which are for the good of others. I've given tirelessly of myself for this community, even encouraging the weakest amongst us.

I remain incredibly polite. i am also admired for my negotiating talents. When there is tension, which sparks altercations, the townsfolk are happy for me to intervene. They know that I will soon return peace to the town.

I inspire confidence and others have confidence in me.

Today they have all left on an expedition in search of the necessary equipment to survive one day longer.

I can hear them. They've been knocking on the gates for several hours now. Insults have given way to pleading. Night is fast approaching...
